Holding on for dear life

A different kind of rider on a different kind of animal was featured last weekend at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The Professional Bull Riders circuit hit the fairgrounds’ Del Mar Arena July 26 and 27 and featured some of the biggest names in the sport.

Top point winner on Saturday was Tony Mendes of Pueblo Colorado, with local competitor Johnny Allen of Del Mar finishing second.

A rebroadcast of the event will be shown on Aug. 10 at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
