Del Mar native joins new pro soccer league

Del Mar native and Torrey Pines grad Rachel Buehler, who won an Olympic gold medal with the United States women’s soccer team this summer, will now play defender for the Women’s Professional Soccer League’s Bay Area squad. League part owner Steve Nash, of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, made the team announcements in New York City last week. Buehler, middle, is seen here with Nash, teammates Leslie Osborne and Nicole Barnhart and team owner Nancy NeSmith showing off her new squad t-shirt.
