Enter the online Jack-O-Lantern contest

Win a $50 gift certificate

If you’ve got the knife skills of Michael Myers and the charismatic “Pumpkin King” mentality of Jack Skellington, enter to win our Jack-O-Lantern contest. It’s scarily simple: buy a pumpkin, rearrange its face, take a photo and shoot us an e-mail to submissions@delmartimes.net. We’ll upload the photo to our Web sites (www.delmartimes.net and www.carmelvalleyleader.com), the public will vote for its favorite and the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Cupcake Love in Solana Beach. Pumpkin guts have never been so fun!


- Jack-O-Lanterns must be hand carved.

- Contest is open to all ages.

- Only Del Mar, Carmel Valley, Rancho Santa Fe or Solana Beach residents or businesses are eligible to enter the contest.

- Submissions must include name, address, daytime phone number and ONE high-resolution photo of a Jack-O-Lantern.

- All contest entries must be submitted by 3 p.m. Oct. 20.

- Online voting will close at noon Oct. 24.

- The winner of the contest will be contacted by phone.

- The winner will be announced in the Oct. 31 editions of the Del Mar Times, Carmel Valley Leader, Rancho Santa Fe Record and Solana Beach Sun newspapers.
