Record numbers celebrate tree lighting

Hundreds of residents gathered at Fletcher Cove Park for Solana Beach’s annual tree-lighting event Dec. 7. Participants sipped on hot chocolate and nibbled on sweets, donated by Cupcake Love, while being serenaded by a mariachi band. The tree lit up just in time for Santa Claus, who arrived by fire engine.
