Sunny day puts gleam on Car Classic in La Jolla

About 2,500 people turned out for Sunday’s fifth annual Motor Car Classic at La Jolla Cove.

“It was just a spectacular show and the weather couldn’t have been better,” said Tiffany Sherer, executive director of Promote La Jolla, the community’s Business Improvement District which hosts the annual show.

Sherer said there were some real stunning and extremely rare vehicles at the classic, like a one-of-a-kind 1925 Rolls Royce Phantom I with a body built in 1934 by Jonckheere of Belgium.

An S 1933 V16 Cadillac owned by Aaron Weiss of San Marino took Best of Show and the People’s Choice award went to an amphibious car.

The field included Jaguars as well as three Delahaye French racing cars.
