Padres player hosts ‘Celebrity Bowling Bash’

Padres All Star first baseman and native San Diegan, Adrian Gonzalez, is the hosting the
Celebrity Bowling Bash as he looks to raise awareness and aid to the Adrian and Betsy
Gonzalez Foundation.

The foundation, established in 2008, was formed to empower underprivileged youth in three tiers; athletics, education and health. While each event focuses its support on a different tier, this bowling event will strengthen the “athletics” side as it supports San Pasqual Academy, a first-in-the-nation residential education campus designed specifically for foster teens here in San Diego.

“My wife and I are grateful for the ability to give back to the San Diego community,” Gonzalez says. “Athletics are an important foundation in kids as they learn about challenges, work ethic and teamwork, both on and off the field.”

Each team will consist of six bowlers, one of which will be a San Diego celebrity athlete.
Bowlers will receive a one-of-a kind gift bag filled with t-shirts, Padres gear and a mini
baseball bat for signatures.

Onlookers and fans will enjoy bidding on items in the live auction such as golfing with Adrian and Edgar Gonzalez, private batting lessons by Adrian Gonzalez, sports memorabilia, vacation packages and gift certificates from local San Diego restaurants and shops. Autographs will also be given throughout the evening as fans interact with their favorite San Diego stars including Adrian Gonzalez, Edgar Gonzalez, Chris Young, Kevin Kouzmanoff, Brian Giles, Health Bell, Nick Hundley, Chase Headley, Shaun Philips, Steven Cooper, John Carney, Mike Scirfres and Luis Castillo.

Bowlers and their teams are encouraged to sign up in advance, as lane space is limited. The Bowling Bash will be held at the East Village Tavern + Bowl on Sunday, April 5.
