Padres open season against rivals
San Diego opens the season Monday hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 4:05 p.m. start.
Jake Peavy will make his fourth consecutive Opening Day start for the Friars, facing Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda.
Opening Day for the San Diego Padres means they’ll be a lot more traffic in the East Village. Before the Padres square off against the Dodgers, local AM sports radio station Double X10-90 will host a free Opening Day Block Party. The party is scheduled from noon to 3:30 p.m. on J Street between 7th and 10th avenues. There will be food live music and a kid’s zone. City officials are encouraging fans to ride the San Diego Trolley into downtown to avoid traffic jams.
