Green Flash Summer Concert Series returns in May

Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s fourth annual Green Flash Concert Series kicks off May 20. These monthly summer concerts, co-hosted by 102.1 KPRI, take place from 6 to 9 p.m.

Music lovers ages 21 and older can enjoy live music and panoramic ocean views on the aquarium’s outdoor tide-pool plaza. Happy-hour appetizers, craft beers and wines are available for purchase by Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. Forty percent of proceeds are donated back to Birch Aquarium at Scripps.

For its fourth season, Birch Aquarium at Scripps continues to expand its musical line-up with a mix of national performers. Admission includes the concert, entrance to all aquarium exhibits and parking. Keep an eye out for a real “green flash,” a rare optical phenomenon caused by refraction of light as the sun sets on the horizon.

Green Flash concerts support Birch Aquarium at Scripps and its mission to provide ocean science education, to interpret Scripps Oceanography research and to promote ocean conservation.
