Del Mar dancer performs at local Indian festival

On April 4, Bharata Natyam dancer Shoba Sharma performed to a sellout crowd of 530 during the Indian Dance and Music Festival 2009, which was held April 3 through 5 at La Jolla High School.

Sharma wore a traditional dress complete with ankle bells. The performance consisted of a series of traditional Indian Bharata Natyam dances, each accompanied by southern Indian Carnatic music involving percussion, string, flute and voice.

The festival featured many classical Indian music and dance performances from various artists and was sponsored by the Indian Fine Arts Academy of San Diego.
