TPHS cheer state champions

The Torrey Pines High School varsity and junior varsity teams both won first place in the recent Intermediate Cheer Division at the Sharp International State Championship at Knott’s Berry Farm.

The teams have practiced hard since November with drill routines and competitions against other California teams, said Elisha Glazebrook, mother of varsity cheerleader Shaynie Glazebrook.

The varsity cheer competing team was composed of varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders, and the junior varsity competing team was made up of junior varsity and freshman cheerleaders.

Scott Chodorow, Suzy Chodorow and Ashley Bascom coached both teams.

On the varsity competition team was: Alexi Brzezniak, Alex Chenault, Jessica Dale, Kathryn Dickson, Erica Do, Chelsea Dutchik, Caitlin Falk, Shaynie Glazebrook, Jessica Huang, Taryn Jaczko, Ryan Johnston, Jenna Jones, Phoebe Kaufman, Elizabeth Lindsey, Elli McParlane, Paige Minteer, Jackie Roth, Alexa Smith, Sabrina Svenson, Linday Taylor and Hannah Ward.

On the junior varsity competition team was: Ivy Arno, Julia Biernacki, Lexi Bolton, Nikki Brunnhoelzl, Brianna Burgess, Rachel Conners, Luciana Contreras, Noelle Fargo, Arielle Fuller, Carly Goldberg, Janna Golden, Jennah Hollis, Katie Hunt, Megan Jaffe, Lauren Krieger, Claire Lindsey, Alexa McNeely, Olivia Melikian, Molly Menotti, Sasha Patel, Bailee Powell, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Samantha Sander, Alyssa Vasquez, Kira Watkins, Allison Yamamoto and Sophia Yrueta.
