San Diego Jewish Academy receives national merit recognition

San Diego Jewish Academy recently congratulated eight of the school’s juniors, who are among the 50,000 students in the nation with the highest scores on their 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The students are: Harry Doshay of Rancho Santa Fe, Ben Graubart of La Jolla, Nathaniel Krasnoff of Carmel Valley, Daniel Penner of Carmel Valley, Amy Shoemaker of La Jolla, Michael Tyler of Carlsbad, Ali Viterbi of Carmel Valley and Ben Weissman of Rancho Santa Fe.

About 1.5 million juniors took the test and 34,000 will be commended for their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. Of the students with the highest scores, about 16,000 of them will qualify to be named National Merit Program Semifinalists, representing the top scorers in each state.
