Torrey Pines hosts Flight Fest

Spectators are in for a thrill during the Torrey Pines Gliderport’s 12th Flight Fest.

The annual event, which includes paragliding and hang gliding races, acro and tandem events, and a Try-n-Fly Expo starts Sunday and runs through May 24. Also planned are bag drops, spot-landing contests and kiting “wars.”

Top competitive pilots as well as local amateurs will compete for $6,000 in cash prizes at the gliderport, 2800 Torrey Pines Scenic Drive, which was established in 1928.
