Philanthropy Spotlight: The Center for Neurologic Study

Created in 1979, the Center for Neurologic Study is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the research and treatment of neurological diseases, including ALS, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. CNS is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

The center’s staff researchers, Dr. Richard Smith and Dr. Jonathan Licht, conduct cutting-edge experimental research and run clinical trials in the hunt for treatment of these diseases and have been successful in the development of new pharmaceutical treatment options and the receipt of several patents.

Recognizing the importance of education and support, programs in these areas are available to patients and their families alike through the center.

Like many philanthropic organizations, “success” at CNS is measured by the number of patients helped and treatments developed rather than dollars raised. Through the contributions of generous corporations, foundations and individual donors, the center’s level of success continues to rise.
