Polo season lands

Polo season started Sunday with two matches, a biplane fly-in and a Chukker Party.

The games will last for 14 weeks and take place at the San Diego Polo Club in Rancho Santa Fe, at 14555 El Camino Real.

The San Diego Polo Club is the third largest in the nation and offers the longest playing season in the U.S. Historic national cups, world-class polo matches and regional tournaments.

It is also home to the second-oldest sporting cup, the USPA Spreckels Cup, founded by shipping magnate John D. Spreckels in 1909.
