ArtPower! plans announced

The 2009-10 season of ArtPower! will draw inspiration from the themes of “Unbounded Journeys” and “Women’s Voices.”

Entering its sixth season, the multiart series will present music, dance and film events from Sept. 23 through May 27.

Highlights of the season include: the launching of ArtPower!’s new series, Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis at Copley Symphony Hall; the inauguration of ArtPower!’s Chamber Music series in the Department of Music’s new Conrad Prebys Concert Hall; the opening of Zanzibar at The Loft in fall 2009; and the creation of the ArtPower! to the People Fund.

“ArtPower! continues to nurture and celebrate the artistic spark in all of us with a bold season bursting with curiosity, beauty and joy,” said Martin Wollesen, ArtPower!’s artistic and executive director. “In particular, we will be engaging with artists whose creative power unbounds borders and blurs boundaries. Every ArtPower! artist is a guide to a new destination. Every performance is a journey that carries us away and brings us home.”
