- Rancho Santa Fe Library Book Club meets: 2 p.m. Rancho Santa Fe Library. This month’s book is “Embers” by Sandor Marai.
- Back to School Bash: 3-5 p.m. Rancho Santa Fe Community Center. A special carnival celebrates going back to school.
- Solana Santa Fe Back to School Barbecue: 5:30 p.m. Solana Santa Fe.

Sunday, Sept. 13
- Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild’s A Finer Art Affaire: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Village parks. Event features artists’ booths, music, children’s art and art demonstrations.

Monday, Sept. 14
- Rancho Santa Fe Forest Health Task Force meets: 9 a.m. Association office.
- Free landscape workshop: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club. Santa Fe Irrigation District presents the workshop on conservation strategies and water smart plants, taught by Don Schultz, a faculty member of the Cuyamaca College Horticulture Department. Reserve a spot by calling 756-5672.
-Rancho Santa Fe Rotary meets: Noon Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. The club will get an update on their Water for Sudan project.

Tuesday, Sept. 15
- Pre-school story time: 12:30 p.m. Rancho Santa Fe Library. The theme is Aloha and Mexican Independence.

Thursday, Sept. 17
- Santa Fe Irrigation District board of directors meets: 8:30 a.m. Irrigation district office.
- Rancho Santa Fe Association board of directors meets: 9 a.m. Association office.
- Rancho Santa Fe Business Leader Sun Downer: 6-7 p.m. Rancho Santa Fe Community Center. Event features networking and a short program as well as wine and light refreshments. $10 for business associates, $20 general admission. Admission includes one drink ticket. Friday, Sept. 18
- Chabad Jewish Center of Rancho Santa Fe Rosh Hashanah service: 6:30 p.m. Morgan Run Resort. Morning service will also be held on Sept. 19 and 20 at 10 a.m. Shofar sounding at 12 p.m. on Sept. 20.
