Church opens activity center

Nativity Catholic Church and School celebrated the opening of the new Holy Family Activity Center on Sept. 27. The 12,000-square-foot center features a gym, multipurpose room, locker rooms, a science classroom and a stage with professional audio/visual and lighting equipment. Bob Baker, a major donor, also unveiled a new statue of the Holy Family in front of the center before the ribbon cutting. With the project, the church raised $5 million: $3 million went toward building the activity center and $2 million will go toward establishing scholarships for underprivileged children to attend Catholic schools in inner-city San Diego.
