Fire closes Calypso Cafe

The Calypso Cafe in Encinitas was closed Tuesday after a kitchen fire ripped through its roof, authorities said.

The non-injury fire at 576 N. Coast Highway 101 was reported at 9:20 p.m. Monday, according to a North County Fire Protection District dispatcher. Firefighters declared it out at 9:53 p.m., he said.

The cause was under investigation and a damage estimate was pending.
