Man injured at 4S ranch stable

A 74-year-old man was seriously injured Tuesday when a horse kicked and trampled him at an area stable, authorities reported.

The accident on Camino Santa Fe in the 4S Ranch area was reported about 3:40 p.m., according to the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District.

Emergency crews arrived to find the victim unconscious, district spokeswoman Julie Taber said.

“It appeared as though he had sustained head (injuries) when the horse he had been working with kicked him and ran him over,” Taber said.

Medics airlifted the man to a trauma center. His name and medical condition were not released.
