Powerhouse feted

Community members came out to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the completion of a major reconstruction of the Powerhouse, making it a community center. Friends of the Powerhouse marked the occasion with champagne and cake. They also announced plans for their next big project: Rebuilding the Lifeguard Tower and Beach Safety Center at 17th Street. “We figure every 10 years we’ll take on a new improvement project,” Friends President Barbara Harper said.
