‘Memphis’ recording out
The Broadway cast recording of “Memphis,” the La Jolla Playhouse-born musical, is available for $24.95 at www.memphisthemusical.com, as well as at the La Jolla Playhouse gift store. The musical opened on Broadway at the Schubert Theatre on Oct. 19 with music by Bon Jovi’s David Bryan and lyrics by Bryan and Joe DiPietro, who also wrote the book.
“I’ve made a lot of albums but this one is really special to me,” Bryan said. ” ‘Memphis’ is about the birth of rock and roll, and to go into a studio with our amazing cast and kick-ass band is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.”
