Solana Beach convenience store robbed at gunpoint

An armed and masked man robbed a Solana Beach convenience store, but fled without injuring anyone, a San Diego County sheriff’s official said Saturday.

The suspect entered the Qwik Korner Deli at 731 S. Highway 101, just north of Via De La Valle, around 8:32 p.m. Friday and pointed a silver handgun at the clerk, said sheriff’s Sgt. Jack Reynolds.

The suspect, who was wearing a blue ski mask, ordered the clerk to lie on the floor, Reynolds said.

The suspect then removed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store in an unknown direction. The clerk was not injured during the robbery, according to Reynolds.

Investigators are asking anyone with any information about the robbery to call the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200.
