Change in weather due by Wednesday

You’ll have to wait until later in the week, but the warm and dry weather we’ve had recently is expected to give way to some rain in San Diego County, a National Weather Service meteorologist said Monday.

It looks like Wednesday we’ll finally see some changes,” said Stefanie Sullivan of the NWS.

“There’s a trough moving through. It looks like Wednesday during the day there’s a 20 to 30 percent chance of (light) rain.”

Warm and dry weather returns Thursday and Friday, but another small storm system is expected late Saturday, and that’s when the real changes begin to come, Sullivan said.

The ridge of high pressure that’s been protecting us and aiming severe cold toward the rest of the country is expect to slide off to the east, she said.

“It definitely looks like it’ll transition back to a wet pattern,” Sullivan said.

She said more rain could come early next week.

The storms are coming out of the mid-Pacific Ocean, not Alaska like some winter storms, so temperatures should remain reasonably warm, she said.
