Casino Night a big winner for lifeguard station

Patrons chip in to help lifeguards

The Friends of the Powerhouse and the City of Del Mar Lifeguards hosted a “Casino Night Party for the Tower” on Feb. 6 at the Community Center on Coast Boulevard.

The sell-out event raised $39,000 toward construction of a new Lifeguard Headquarters at 17th Street. (Project details at www.FriendsofthePowerhouse.org.)

Guests enjoyed casino-style games, dinner by Jake’s, auctions, and dancing to the tunes of Java. Lifeguards equipped with umbrellas guided guests to the front doors to avoid the pelting rains of the night.
