Del Mar Little League marks 50 seasons

Del Mar Little League will celebrate the beginning of its 50th anniversary season by holding its 2010 season Opening Ceremonies and Baseball Bash on Saturday, Feb. 27, at Ashley Falls Park. The Baseball Bash opens at 8:30 a.m. with carnival games, food and live music for everyone to enjoy.

Team pictures for all divisions will be scheduled throughout the day. Check the Del Mar Little League Web site at www.dmll.org for more information. For those planning to attend, in addition to spaces at the school, parking will also be available at Grace Point Church and Beth Am Synagogue.

Opening Ceremonies will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a presentation of all teams and will include special guest appearances by Padre great Dave Winfield and City Councilman Kevin Faulconer.

Del Mar Little League will also be holding a used equipment drive to help support Little Leagues in struggling local communities. People are encouraged to bringing bats, gloves, helmets and other used baseball equipment to the Baseball Bash.
