Missing Del Mar surfer found safe at home

Lifeguards called off the search for a surfer in Del Mar on Wednesday afternoon when the man was found safe at his home about an hour and a half after being reported missing.

Apparently two men who carpooled to the beach were separated and the driver reported his friend missing after returning to his car unable to find the surfer, a spokesperson for Del Mar Lifeguards said.

Del Mar Lifeguards searched the surf until the missing man was located later at his home. He had hitched a ride back with another surfer.
