Tickets for Lakers San Diego exhibition game go on sale Monday

The Los Angeles Lakers will play an exhibition game at the San Diego Sports Arena Oct. 21 against the Golden State Warriors, the team announced today as it unveiled its exhibition schedule which also includes games in London and Barcelona, Spain.

The Lakers have been scheduled to play an exhibition game in San Diego each year since 1999. The 2006 game was canceled because of the wildfires burning throughout San Diego County. The Lakers made a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross to assist with relief efforts.

The San Diego exhibition game annually serves as a homecoming for Lakers forward Luke Walton, a University of San Diego High School graduate.

The Lakers are 6-4 in their San Diego exhibition games since 1999, including a 119-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets Oct. 23.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at Ticketmaster outlets, online at ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 4-NBA-TIX.

The Lakers’ eight-game exhibition schedule will begin Oct. 4 with a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in London. Three days later they will play Spain’s Regal FC Barcelona in Barcelona.

This will be the second time the Lakers have played in Europe and first since 1991, when they won the McDonald’s Championship in Paris.

The other five exhibitions will be played Oct. 13 in Las Vegas against Sacramento; Oct. 16 and 17 at Staples Center against the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers or Utah Jazz; Oct. 19 in Anaheim against Utah; and Oct. 22 in Ontario against Golden State.
