Clairemont Mesa bank robbed
A stocky man claiming to have a concealed gun robbed a Clairemont Mesa bank Monday.
The thief, who appeared to be in his 50s, approached a teller at the Chase Bank branch office in the 5800 block of Balboa Avenue shortly after 11 a.m., stated that he had a gun and demanded cash, according to San Diego police. No weapon was seen.
The bandit fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Witnesses described him as a bearded, heavyset white man in a white checkered shirt, khaki hat and rimless eyeglasses, police said.
