Advocates for Classical Music seeks volunteers
Members of San Diego’s Advocates for Classical Music (AFCM) have been sharing their love and knowledge of music with school children for 14 years.
Due to education budget cuts that have hit the arts hard, they are looking for more volunteers to bolster the program for the next school year.
At last count, more than 100,000 students have enjoyed a visit from one of the organization’s enthusiastic docents.
These aren’t professional musicians or music teachers, but volunteers dedicated to music education.
AFCM partners with the San Diego Symphony and Classics for Kids Philharmonic to train docents who prepare classes scheduled to attend one of the kid-friendly concerts.
Training sessions will be offered at central locations.
