TEDxDelMar coming to Powerhouse on June 2

On June 2, the Powerhouse in Del Mar will be the setting for a one-day TED conference featuring speakers, innovators and “futurists” from a variety of fields. TEDxDelMar is an independently organized event combining live speakers and videos to spark discussion about “The Big Picture Future.”

A few of the 16 featured speakers to date include scientists and educators, including V.S. Ramachandran, Kevin Grazier and New York Times best-selling author David Brin.

Often called the “Marco Polo of Neuroscience” Ramachndran is Director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at UCSD. Kevin Grazier is active in bringing the wonders of science and space to the public and serving as scientific advisor for PBS. David Brin is a scientist and inventor whose most recent work is “The Transparent Society,” which explores the dangers of secrecy and loss of privacy in our modern world.

Attendance will be limited to 100 persons. For information, visit www.TEDxDelMar.com. The conference will be held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a charge of $100 which includes dinner. There is a student fee of $30.
