Del Mar Community Connections moves offices

Local dads conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro on first try

A group of nine local dads are on top of the world after successfully climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. The group reached the summit on the morning of Oct. 10 in what was their first bid to climb the 19,341 foot peak.

Mayor Jerry Sanders recently announced the appointment of Del Mar resident Sheryl White as the newest commissioner to serve on the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture. In addition, Vicki Reed will take over as chair following the term of Colette Carson Royston.

San Diego chefs come together to fight cancer at Nov. 8 benefit

Seven local chefs will come together at the Pamplemousse Grille in Del Mar on Monday, Nov. 8, to create an all-inclusive five course dinner to raise funding to assist healthcare costs for one of San Diego’s own, Timothy Gutmann, executive chef, Poseidon Restaurant on the Beach in Del Mar.

Conner’s Cause for Children held “A Tuscan Affair” Oct. 16 at the clubhouse on the lake in Fairbanks Ranch. Proceeds from the annual event benefit Conner’s Cause, the only non-profit organization in the San Diego region that offers direct family assistance for out-of-pocket expenses relating to any and all life- threatening illnesses associated with children.

Del Mar resident chairs San Diego Cycle For Life Tour

Michael Lefebvre organized the San Diego Cycle For Life Tour, which is scheduled Oct. 30 at MiraCosta College’s San Elijo campus.

The inaugural San Diego Cycle For Life Tour, hosted by the San Diego Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation and co-sponsored by Eurand Pharmaceuticals, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Mira Costa College, San Elijo campus.

Poseidon Restaurant in Del Mar, San Diego Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, San Diego Coastkeeper, and 91X radio teamed up for a beach cleanup on Oct. 9. After tidying up the shore, volunteers gathered at Poseidon for a meal.
