Del Mar’s mayor to discuss fairgrounds purchase at Solana Beach Chamber breakfast

The Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a “Third Thursday Networking Breakfast” featuring guest speaker Richard Earnest, the Mayor of Del Mar, on Nov. 18. The networking event will take place at Holiday Inn Express in Solana Beach, 621 South Highway 101, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Earnest will address the business community on how the purchase of the Del Mar Fairgrounds will affect Solana Beach and the surrounding communities. Issues to be discussed: why the purchase is necessary to preserve our way of life and doing business; local vs. state control over the fairgrounds and its fundamental differences; finances; the participation of Solana Beach in its management; and the status of Solana Beach’s support as the purchase moves along through the State legislature.

Earnest will hold a short Q and A session after his speech giving those in attendance an opportunity to voice their concerns about this purchase which will effect all residents of Solana Beach and Del Mar and the surrounding communities.
