St. James Academy students celebrate Grandparents’ Day

StJamesGrandparents

Grandparents Al and Mary Colette Smith and the children are Garrett and Colette Whitton of Solana Beach.

St. James Academy students had more than 125 grandparents/special friends join them for their first annual Grandparents’ Day celebration.  They came from near and far to spend the morning with the students, the furthest being from Canada.  After celebrating Mass together the grandparents were treated to a breakfast catered by St. Germaine’s cafe and feasted on quiche made by Nancy Salameh. The kids then took their grandparents on a tour of the school.  Each family was given a checklist of places to visit ending in a visit to the library, where grandparents could purchase a Christian book for their grandchild or to donate to the school.  They were given the gift of lasting memories with group photos.

St. James Academy is a K-8 elementary school serving the North County communities of Solana Beach, Del Mar, Carmel Valley, Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas, Carlsbad and San Marcos. St. James Academy is part of the St. James Catholic Community, which includes St. James Church and St. Leo’s Mission. For more information, go to www.saintjamesacademy.com or call 858-755-1777.
