Del Mar Union School District appoints three new principals
At the June 15 and July 27 regular board meetings, the board of trustees of the Del Mar Union School District approved the appointments of Carrie Gammel as the new principal at Del Mar Hills Academy; Eileen Delaney as the new principal at Carmel Del Mar School; and Barbara Boone as the new principal at Torrey Hills School.

Carrie Gammel
Gammel received the Excellent Teacher Award from the California State Senate. Her commitment and passion for education includes being a GATE Coordinator, Thinking Maps Teacher Trainer, UCI Math Institute Instructor, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Coach, and assistant principal.
Gammel’s 12 years of classroom teaching and three years of administrative experience enabled her to work with parents, teachers, and the community to create a positive learning environment where every student can excel. Gammel looks forward to building a strong partnership with her new school family and local community to create a foundation for continued success at Del Mar Hills Academy.

Eileen Delaney

Barbara Boone
Her 14 years experience in San Diego Unified included leadership at schools ranging from 100 to 1,200 elementary students. She has experience with diverse populations and, in her last school, led a full inclusion program for her special education students.
