Carmel Valley skateboarder tops at State Games of America

Carmel Valley skateboarder Kaleb Van Niel won first place at the State Games of America on Aug. 6. The skateboarding competition was held at the Ecke YMCA in Encinitas, and Kaleb bested 22 other athletes in his division of 8 and under from across the country with his skills in streetstyle. Kaleb, who has been skating since he was 6, had to qualify to get into the Games at his home skate park, which he considers the best skatepark to train.
