The Del Mar Union School District board approved some tweaks to the district’s field trip policy at its Oct. 26 meeting.

Fumes stink up Solana Beach neighborhood on Oct. 22
A community member’s attempt to rinse out a propane tank in his yard led to the voluntary evacuation of most of the homes on the 800 block of Juanita Street in Solana Beach on Oct. 22, said Jim Sturtevant, battalion chief of the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District, which encompasses Solana Beach.

National Charity League hosts Mardi Gras Fashion Show
The Del Sol Chapter of National Charity League held a Mardi Gras Fashion Show on Oct. 23 at the Del Mar Hilton to raise funds for San Pasqual Academy, a first-in-the-nation residential education campus designed specifically for foster teens.
Jake’s Del Mar holds 29th Beach Fun Run
Jake’s Del Mar hosted its 29th annual Beach Fun Run on Oct. 22. The 5K run started and finished at Jake’s, with awards for first place for men and women, along with oldest and youngest people to finish and the baby stroller division.
Carruth Cellars celebrates one-year anniversary with art installation
In recognition of Carruth Cellars’ one-year anniversary of operation in Solana Beach, the winery hosted a community art installation fundraising project from Oct. 19 to 22. The winery commissioned international mosaic artist Laurel True, of True Mosaics Studio based in New Orleans, to install a mosaic mural at Carruth Cellars.
