I'm always amused by residents who complain about the traffic during the fair. Having the fair in our town is like having the Super Bowl game each year in our backyard. The economic impact in terms of retail sales, gasoline, hotel, restaurants, etc. the fair brings to our community is almost incalculable. The fair and race track have been here far longer than most of the residents, so logically we all knew what we were getting into when we purchased homes in this area. I, for one, while a little inconvenienced sometimes during the fair and horse racing season, can see the big picture that many miss. Most communities would kill to have such a world class event in their area.

The solution is simple: Don't like it, move. There are many others waiting to take your place.

Oh no! As if the traffic for the current duration isn't bad enough. The Del Mar Fair is a good reason to leave Del mar in June and return after it ends in July!
