Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson to be guest speaker at Fairbanks GOP Women reception

Tommy Thompson

Former Governor of Wisconsin and current U. S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson will be the featured speaker at a reception hosted by Fairbanks Republican Women Federated on April 26 at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club starting at 6 p.m.

Thompson was elected Governor in 1986, and re-elected to three additional terms, leaving in 2001 to become Secretary of Health and Human Services under President George H. W. Bush. The education, budget and welfare reforms achieved during his time in Wisconsin’s capitol became a national model. He is a current candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Herb Kohl (D). If successful, his election would further the possibility of Republicans winning back a legislative majority.

Fairbanks Republican Women Federated (FRWF) is one of the largest clubs chartered by the National Federation of Republican Women. Founded in 1994, its mission is to educate, inspire and encourage involvement in the political process.
