Safety Tower celebration

The Friends of the Powerhouse and the Del Mar Lifeguards hosted a celebration Aug. 1 at En Fuego in Del Mar to mark the Safety Tower completion. The event, titled “Midsummer Night of Fun and Frivolity,” included a Buffet Dinner and a live auction conducted by Joe Harper, president and general manager of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, and Del Mar Lifeguard Chief Pat Vergne.

All proceeds benefit Friends projects, such as the new Beach Safety Center (lifeguard tower), the Powerhouse Community Center, and beach and park enhancement.
