17th Annual Meet the Chefs of Del Mar set for April 14

On Sunday, April 14, chefs from 15 of Del Mar’s finest restaurants will join Casa de Amparo to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month  at the 17th Annual Meet the Chefs of Del Mar. The popular food & wine event will be held poolside at the Hilton Del Mar, 15575 Jimmy Durante Blvd. across from the Del Mar Race Track. All proceeds support Casa de Amparo programs and services for abused, neglected and at-risk children and families throughout San Diego County.

Guests will be able to meet the chefs and sample their signature dishes paired with premium wines from Young’s Market Company. Chefs and restaurants include Matt Sramek/Amaya at The Grand Del Mar, Randy Gruber/Americana, Mason Garske & Angule Arellano/Del Mar Brigantine, Moises Mendoza/Il Fornaio, Dustin Anselm & Duvinh Ta/Jake’s Del Mar, Torrey Hall & Jorge Benitez/Pacific Coast Grill, Stephanie O’Mary-Berwald/Pacifica Del Mar, Jeffrey Strauss & Angela Denman/Pamplemousse Grille, Mourad Jamal & Anthony Tilapla/Poseidon, Mark Bolton/Prepkitchen Del Mar, Jose Montano & Mauricio Pineda/Red Tracton’s, Antonio (Tigre) Ortiz/Ruth’s Chris Steak House Del Mar, Adam Stuart & Russell Taylor/Sbicca Del Mar, Yoshi Nohara/Shimbasi Izakaya, and Francisco Castenada & Marco Galliano/Silk’s at the Hilton Del Mar.

Tickets are $150 for the Chefs Food & Wine Tastings, 1 to 4 p.m. and $200 for a private VIP reception, from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. that includes wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, a cooking demonstration by Jon Palsson of Harrah’s and valet parking. Guests can dance to the music of popular local band Coastal Eddy and bid on exciting auctions including dinners donated by many of the participating restaurants. The event also features a drawing for an “Instant Wine Cellar,” a selection of premium wines valued at $2,000.
