Del Mar City Council issues proclamation to Hospice of the North Coast

Development staff Shelly Dew and Don Beaumarchais display the City of Del Mar’s proclamation at the Hospice of the North Coast’s Pacifica House, where it will be placed.

The Del Mar City Council issued a proclamation July 1 to North County-based Hospice of the North Coast (HNC), a nonprofit that serves terminally ill patients and their families throughout North County. The Proclamation recognizes HNC’s opening of its new six-bedroom, in-patient Pacifica House, the first such freestanding residential facility in the area.

Created to “honor Hospice of the North Coast, and Pacifica House,” the Proclamation states, in part, that the City of Del Mar “encourages citizens to increase their understanding and awareness of care at the end of life.”

HNC Major Gifts Officer Don Beaumarchais accepted the Proclamation on behalf of HNC. He notes, “Pacifica will fill a desperately-needed healthcare niche while fulfilling a longtime dream of our hospice that has served Del Mar and other North County communities for more than three decades. It extends HNC’s mission of helping people have a peaceful life-through-death experience by offering a welcome end-of-life home for terminally ill patients who, due to safety, security, financial or other concerns, might otherwise have very limited options.”

After celebrating a housewarming on July 12, Pacifica will welcome its first residents at 4411 Park Drive  in Carlsbad soon, once state licensing is finalized. To tour or support Pacifica, contact don@hospicenorthcoast.org.
