Super Tasty 5K Restaurant Walk to be held in Solana Beach

More than 20 restaurants in Solana Beach, including Wild Note Café, Pizza Port, Masuo’s and Crush, will participate in a Restaurant Walk on Sept. 7 called the Super Tasty 5K. The non-competitive event will raise funds for San Diego’s Promises2Kids Foundation, which is dedicated to creating a brighter future for San Diego’s foster children.

Held in conjunction with the Giro di San Diego Gran Fondo, a popular annual cycling event, the Super Tasty 5K is co-sponsored by the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce. Carolyn Cohen, president of the Chamber and owner of Realty Executives Pacific Gold, considers the event “a community-builder that benefits everyone”.

The cost for the walk is $30 for adults and $15 for kids. There are family packages available for $75. Included in registration are: an event t-shirt, food passport, and samples from each participating restaurant. Additionally, all participants are eligible to win raffle prizes and compete for awards. Prize categories include best costume, best team theme, top individual fundraiser, and top group fundraiser.

“It’s extremely important to me that our events give back to the community,” says Giro organizer Tobias Panek. “And so, we’re grateful to partner with the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce. The Super Tasty 5K will introduce attendees to new restaurants, benefit Promises2Kids, and add a fun family component to our weekend of festivities.”

The Giro di San Diego features five different cycling events, including mountain bike courses of 10 and 30 miles and three road riding options: 35, 66, and 106 miles. It is held in the tradition of Italian Gran Fondos, which are semi-competitive, long-distance bicycle rides. All rides are scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8.

In addition to the rides and the restaurant walk, the Giro di San Diego Weekend features a Bike and Fitness Expo on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Solana Beach’s Fletcher Cove. Information and links to registration for any of the events can be found at www.girodisandiego.com. Additional information about the event beneficiary, Promises2Kids, is available at www.promises2kids.org
