Ah, the month of February with its lovely reminder of hearts, flowers, candy and gems. What could be more timely than a discussion of “Jewelry: The History and the Art” presented by local antique and estate jewelry dealer Judy Schuckit and sponsored by Del Mar Community Connections from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Del Mar City Hall Annex?

Attendees are encouraged to bring an interesting piece of jewelry to share.

Growing up in the jewelry business, Schuckit said she slowly became interested in the art and history of gems while working at UC San Diego She notes she is most interested in antique jewelry of the 19th and 20th centuries, especially the Edwardian, Art Deco and Art Nouveau of the 1890s to 1940.
