Fairmont Grand Del Mar earns a trio of Forbes Five-Star Designations

Fairmont Grand Del Mar has once again achieved a trio of Five-Star awards from Forbes Travel Guide for Lodging, The Spa at Fairmont Grand Del Mar and Addison, the resort’s signature restaurant.

Among an elite group of high-end resorts and hotels, Fairmont Grand Del Mar is one of just eight hotels in the country to receive three Five-Star designations from Forbes in 2018. The others include The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs; The Cloister in Sea Island, Georgia; Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas; Meadowood Napa Valley; Montage Laguna Beach; Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, and Wynn Las Vegas. Fairmont Grand Del Mar is the only hotel in San Diego to ever achieve triple Five-Star status.

Adding to its growing award line-up, the resort and Addison retained their AAA Five Diamond rating for the 10th straight year.

“Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond rankings set the industry standard, and earning them year after year firmly establishes us as a top world-class destination,” said Dennis Clark, managing director of Fairmont Grand Del Mar. “We are immensely proud to achieve these designations and credit much of our success to our extraordinarily gracious and hardworking staff, who take true pleasure in providing top-notch service. These rankings provide us with credibility and cachet with world travelers seeking the very finest in accommodations and amenities.”

The resort celebrated its 10-year anniversary in October 2017, and throughout the years has earned dozens of awards, including TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice #1 Luxury Hotel in the United States, U.S. News Travel Best Hotels in the United States and Travel + Leisure World’s Best Award – but the trio of Forbes Five-Star accolades and the AAA Five Diamond status represent the pinnacle of its success.

Forbes Travel Guide has set the gold standard for the hospitality industry 60 years, providing objective, disciplined ratings for hotels, restaurants and spas. Its rating system is rigorous and has the most exacting standards in the industry. Restaurants, hotels and spas must meet or exceed the guide’s bar-setting service and quality standards, with a focus on graciousness, thoughtfulness and a sense of personalized service, all of which are determined through an unannounced, undercover service evaluation conducted by expert inspectors. Keenly focused on service and quality, the Five-Star Award is its highest ranking.

Also representing the upper echelon of the hospitality industry, the Five Diamond award is American Automobile Association’s top ranking and reserved for properties with the highest degree of service, quality, ultra-luxurious facilities and top-notch amenities.
