Center marks anniversary Carmel Valley Facial Plastic Surgery will celebrate its one-year anniversary with an open house and "beauty extravaganza" from 5:30 to 9 p.m. June 26 at 4765 Carmel Mountain Road, Suite 201.
Amir M. Karam founded the center, which offers surgical and non-surgical aesthetic and reconstructive facial treatments such as face lifts, nose and eye surgery, and injections such as Botox and cosmetic fillers.
The event will feature Lily Girl Jewelry, Matti-D clothing, Epicurean Events appetizers and Extraordinary Desserts. La Jolla's Brow Lounge will provide brow shapings by appointment. Chico's hosts food drive In an effort to supply the San Diego Food Bank with much needed nonperishable food for those in need, Chico's is offering a 10 percent discount to anyone who brings five or more food items into the store on or before June 26.

Brookfield has 13 sales in May Brookfield Homes, based in Del Mar, completed a total of 13 home sales in May after five new homes sales during the last week of the month, according to Lora Heramb, vice president of sales and marketing.

HUYA to team with university HUYA Bioscience International, based in Carmel Valley, recently announced a drug co-development partnership with Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in China.
HUYA is a biopharmaceutical developer that strives to accelerate the global co-development of new product opportunities originating in China.
The agreement gives HUYA the rights to first review and negotiation of novel therapeutic compounds owned or controlled by the university.
DM doctor releases book Del Mar's Dr. Barnet Meltzer recently released his latest book, "The Best Kept Secret to Permanent Weight Loss," a guide that "expands well beyond the conventional path of quick fix diets and temporary weight-loss solutions," a news release explained.
Meltzer's book is filled with recipes, self-assessment quizzes, anti-aging tips and insights.
