UCSD Extension in September will launch a new certificate program for gaming enthusiasts looking to find a job as a mobile phone game developer.

Applications for the Casual Game Development certificate program are now being accepted for the 12-month, two-night-a-week program taught by experienced industry professionals at the Digital Arts Center at UCSD Extension, dac.ucsd.edu.

To be eligible to enroll, students must have previous experience in game art or a related field or hold a bachelor's degree that includes significant focus on art or programming. The program director and the faculty will review the student's portfolio before determining acceptance into the certificate program.

The $14,500 certificate tuition includes the hardware and software necessary to launch a career, including a MacBook Pro laptop computer, Apple iTouch mobile phone, the latest Adobe CS software, Apple iPhone developer fee, textbooks, a yearlong subscription to the latest software and the latest Unity 3D Casual Game Development Platform, including Web, Mac, Win and iPhone Publishing.
