New artist joins Del Mar Art Center

Marcus Thorne is the newest addition to the Del Mar Art Center. An accomplished architectural designer and artist, he also teaches Wine and Canvas painting classes at local venues including Mia Francesca at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center.

A regional museum is once again bringing art to the community. Oceanside Museum of Art is kicking off its second exhibition Feb. 7 at its new satellite location in Del Mar.

The Artist Alliance II exhibition will feature 66 pieces from 64 artists. All artists are members of the museum’s nearly 200-member Artist Alliance. The group regularly meets at OMA for critiquing sessions, panel discussions and other artist-oriented events.

Del Mar Art Gallery to hold new series of exhibits

A “Ship in the Woods,” a Del Mar art gallery and 501(c)(3) non-profit, is beginning a new series of solo art exhibitions named “Helm.” Twice a month until March, a new artist will come and take the “helm” of “Ship in the Woods” mid-century architecture to house and display their art for a week. The show is being curated by UCSD Art PhD candidate Laura Bullock.

Oceanside Museum of Art is bringing high quality exhibitions and programs into the community and over the coming months will begin establishing satellite venues and forming programmatic partnerships with key local arts groups. As the premier art museum for the North County San Diego region, it is OMA’s responsibility to not only provide programming inside its walls but to also bring art directly to the community. OMA recently announced its first satellite venue opening on Oct. 5 in Del Mar.
