
Originated especially for the First Thursday series, “Scott Paulson, World Premier Radio Drama,” a comedic radio drama, was set in 1940 Del Mar, with flashbacks to Del Mar in the 1920s. The performance, which was held May 3 at the Powerhouse Community Center, featured live music with old-school radio sound effects.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Dieguito (UUFSD) in Solana Beach hosted a fundraising Cinco de Mayo auction/party on May 5. This year’s auction was the Fellowship’s most successful fundraiser ever.

On May 11, students, family members and teachers from Solana Pacific School ran in the popular annual Amazing Quest event. Teams raced through Del Mar Highlands shopping center. This family event was organized by Amazing Quest and the Solana Pacific PTA.

The Solana Beach Cinco de Mayo Community Fiesta was held on May 6 at La Colonia Park. Traditional and colorful Mexican heritage was on offer, with the festive sounds of Mariachi Orgullo de San Diego and a performance by a professional Ballet Folklorico dance group.

A nonprofit group that uses music to help adults and children with special needs held a benefit dinner and concert May 5 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Solana Beach. The Del Mar Heights School PTA hosted a Preview Party and Home Tour on May 5 and 6. The party took place May 5 at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. Guests enjoyed a silent auction, delicious food, festive drinks and live music.

The United States Equestrian Team Foundation hosted a benefit in support of the United States Equestrian Olympic Team on May 4 during the 2012 Del Mar National Horse Show. After the Olympic Show Jumping Observation event, Guests joined the Foundation for Margaritas, Fiesta Food, and Lively Music at Barn W of the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

In the spirit of families, faculty and fun, Notre Dame Academy hosted its annual Family Fun Day, affectionately known as Bonjour! Bouncy houses, a talent show stage, carnival games and a game truck took over “Dolphin Field” as students, families and staff gathered for an afternoon of good old-fashioned fun.

Solana Pacific Elementary School held an open house April 25. Colorful student artwork was on display and for sale at the event.

The Torrey Pines High School Foundation Rummage Sale and Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by Coldwell Banker Carmel Valley, was held April 28 in the school’s back parking lot. All proceeds benefit TPHS student programs.
