San Diego Electric Bike Shop opens in Solana Beach

The City of Solana Beach Parks and Recreation Commission presented “Paws in the Park” on April 14 at La Colonia Park. The event featured a variety of pet-related activities, including pet contests, as well as food for people and dogs. Donations were also collected for animal rescue groups. In addition, animals were available for adoption.

Notre Dame Academy in Carmel Valley held its “Bonsoir En Blanc” benefit at Notre Dame Academy on April 12.

The Del Mar Rotary Club held its Appreciation Day luncheon on April 11 at St. Peters Church in Del Mar.

Casa de Amistad, a Solana Beach nonprofit organization that’s provided dual-language families with educational support for 15 years, held its annual fundraising event on April 13 at the Del Mar Hilton. In addition to featuring a dinner, dance and auction for the organization’s loyal donors, the event also served as a celebration of the students whose lives have been impacted tremendously by the help they’ve received from Casa de Amistad.

The Friends of Scott Foundation made dreams come true for teens with cancer at the seventh annual “Unforgettable Prom” held April 5 at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. The event featured great music (Rock & Roll Miracles), prom dresses, tuxedos, a red carpet entrance and more.

Actress Marion Ross, a part-time resident of Cardiff, tailored her occasionally performed show of Edna St. Vincent Millay’s poems and letters especially for the Del Mar Foundation’s April 4 First Thursday presentation.

Julie’s Beachwear, which has been in business for 20 years with “resort, fashion, lounge and bikini wear from around the world,” hosted a spring soirée April 6 to welcome Charleston Shoes to its new home in Del Mar.

Ocean Air Elementary School held an extensive display of terrific student art at its Open House/Art Show on April 6.
