Rotten Cheeseburgers Groms U9 triumph in lacrosse tourney

The Rotten Cheeseburgers “RC” Groms Under 9 Team won the Adrenaline Santa Barbara Lacrosse Tournament on June 20-22. RC won all five games in their first tournament playing together.

Del Mar Little League hosts All-Star Baseball tourney for 9-10, 10-11-year-olds

Del Mar National Little League hosted this year’s District 31 Little League 9-10 and 10-11-year-olds All-Star Baseball tournaments, which ran from June 16 through the Championship games on July 3.

Local athletes to compete for a national title at the U.S. Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships

Members of the San Dieguito synchronized swim team qualified for the national championships by placing among the top three finishers at the regional championships last month, which featured top athletes from Southern California.

North County San Diego members of the San Dieguito synchronized swimming team are set to compete for a national title at the 2014 U.S. eSynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships from June 27-July 5 in Federal Way, Wash.

Solana Beach Little League crowns Brewers as champions

Little League International celebrated its 75th season this year, and Solana Beach Little League recently completed its 57th season. The season ended with the crowning of the Regular Season and Tournament Champions. The Majors Division Champion Brewers, sponsored by Baum Orthodontics, won the Solana Beach Little League Majors Division regular season and tournament titles and finished third in the annual post-season Coast Cities Tournament.

Carmel Valley Spurs finish season with win

The Carmel Valley Spurs defeated the Furious Ponies, 66-55, on June 11 in the fifth/sixth-grade championship game in the Master Sports Carmel Valley OPEN Basketball League.

Over a nine-game season, the offense scored 633 points while giving up only 346 on defense. The average game score was 70-38.

Super 7 wins in 3rd/4th grade open league

On June 9, “Super 7” beat the Aztecs 35-24 to win the Master Sports 2014 Spring Basketball Open League championship for third/fourth grade.

Under the leadership of co-coaches and sisters Sajani and Shilpa Patel, Super 7 learned early on that the key to victory was working as a team and focusing on the fundamentals.

The 2013 US Youth Soccer National Champion Del Mar/Carmel Valley Sharks GU 17 Elite girls team has been playing together for five years — traveling all over the country and world from Hawaii to Sweden. In July, the close-knit, “fiercely competitive” team will defend its championship in the national tournament in Germantown, Maryland.

The tournament will cap an accomplished five years together and serve as a farewell to six departing seniors: Angel Meriweather, Dominique DeCoy, Rachel Carroll, Jennifer Ballez, Mari Briggs and Hailey Harbison.

Del Mar youth wins Pitch, Hit & Run competition

Matty Allen won the Pitch, Hit & Run Team Championship Competition.

Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run is an exciting skills event for boys and girls where participants have the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition, including Team Championship events at all 30 Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.

Del Mar Nationals win Little League Championship

The Del Mar Nationals completed a great season as regular season champions and post-season champions of the Del Mar National Little League. The team started the season with eight straight wins, and seven of the team’s players connected for home runs during the season. The Nationals went undefeated through the League playoffs before playing the Del Mar American champion Angels in the Del Mar Cup, where the Angels came out on top. Congrats to all of the boys on a great season!
